Andrew Bryant, MSW, LICSW (He/HIM)

Andrew Bryant has worked as a counselor and therapist for over fifteen years. He specializes in therapeutic work with adults, adolescents, and couples at North Seattle Therapy & Counseling.  Andrew received his Master’s degree in Social Work, with a specialization in Clinical Practice from Hunter College School of Social Work in New York City. He received a Master’s degree in Public Health, with a specialization in community-oriented public health practice and international health, from the University of Washington.

Andrew worked for a number of years as a therapist at the Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Center, in Brooklyn, New York, where he provided adult, child and family therapy, led boys therapeutic and socialization groups, and parenting support groups. Prior to this, he received extensive training in couples therapy and structural family therapy as an intern at the Roberto Clemente Family Guidance Center.  He was trained in individual adult therapy at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, in Manhattan, New York.  Andrew is also trained in crisis intervention, and has worked with clients suffering from depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and substance use at the Downtown Emergency Services Center, and at the King County Crisis Clinic, in Seattle.

Andrew has worked as a counselor and researcher with neglected, elderly populations in Argentina, with the City Government of Buenos Aires; in remote, Mayan-Guatemalan villages; with victims of trauma and violence in the country of East Timor; and with Health Alliance International at the University of Washington. He has conducted qualitative and quantitative mental health research in every region of the United States. He has also conducted research on traditional wisdom tales, and their impact on children’s emotional development, creativity, and well-being.

Andrew has an interest in refugee mental health and trauma; and has worked with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, providing pro bono clinical evaluations and court testimony in asylum cases.

One of Andrew’s current professional interests is in the impact of environment on psychology, and more specifically the impact of climate change and ecological crisis on mental health. As part of this work, he manages a website, Climate & Mind, aimed at promoting discussion about this topic within the mental health community. He also specializes in “climate-aware therapy,” aimed at helped people struggling with climate-related depression, anxiety, and grief (For more information, click here).

Finally, Andrew has recently begun offering Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) in collaboration with Journey Clinical (for more information about ketamine services, click here).

Andrew speaks English and Spanish. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, bicycling, swimming, and camping.

In-Network

Starting in 2024, Andrew will no longer be working in-network with any insurance providers.

OUT-OF-Network

Clients can receive reimbursement for therapy through most other health plans.
